With the number of millionaires now thought to total almost 65 million globally, there is an increasing need for these wealthy individuals to engage with wealth managers and investment firms to help them protect and further grow their assets.
This survey was completed by 100 affluent and High Net Worth Individuals in the UK and US and 102 in Switzerland in October 2022. The overall sample was weighted approximately 2:1 by gender (62% male, 38% female), age (69% 45+ years, 31% under 45 years), and investible assets (converted to USD 67% above 1m, 33% below 1m,).

The purpose of this overview is to offer an independent view of wealth management-related behaviours and sentiments from validated global affluent and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI). Since 2018, Altiant has been tracking wealthy consumers' views in Europe, Asia, and North America through our quarterly Global Luxury & Asset Management monitor (GLAM).
Data in this report is taken from Altiant’s luxury tracker GLAM, using survey responses from its proprietary panel, LuxuryOpinions. Across the nine quarters of 2019, 2020 and Q1 2021, a total of over 4,000 interviews were conducted for GLAM, with around n=450 in each quarter.

This quantitative online survey interviewed 632 wealthy investors from the UK and US. Subgroups were defined based on investable assets, those having between $250,000 - $1,000,000 are classified as “Emerging HNWI” and those with more than $1,000,000 are classified as High Net Worth Individuals “HNWI”. For this report, the gender split was 55:45% male:female. The median level of Investible Assets was approximately $1,635,000. The report covers investment behaviours related to Mutual Funds, ETFs, Private Placements and more.

For this report, the gender split was 55:45% male:female. The median level of Investible Assets was approximately $1,635,000.

The quantitative online survey for this report was carried out during February 2019, and interviewed 1,036 members from various countries across our online affluent community (33% in Asia/33% in Europe/34% in North America). 43% of this sample was aged 18-39, while 57% was aged 40+. The gender split was 50:50% male:female. Normalised to $US, the median household income across this total sample was just less than $297,000.

To understand how this could be impacting wealthy Brits, Altiant conducted a survey in March 2019 among 200 of our UK affluent/High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) who had at least £400k in investible assets. Among these, 70% said that they use a professional advisor for investment-related decisions. Our sample are prolific investors overseas, with 36% having 25% or more of their assets invested abroad and 47% saying that they own one or more properties in the EU.
